When we speak of the “AmoreZero family,” we don’t mean it lightly. It’s not just a slogan to put in a shop window. It is the truest thing we can tell you about ourselves, because this project was born within a family, for a family, and today it continues to grow thanks to the many other families who have joined ours.
Would you like to get to know our story?
The origins: it all started with her
We come from Italy, from a life that was already wonderful: stable jobs, plenty of friends, and our familiar routines. Yet, deep down, we had always harbored a dream of America—the kind of dream shared by aunts and uncles returning from vacations with stories of a place where anything seemed possible.
Then, at age 45, she arrived: our daughter. A miracle that came almost too late, after years of waiting. In an instant, everything that had once been enough for us was no longer enough for her. So, we sold what we had built and set off, carrying suitcases filled with both fear and hope.
The real challenge came later, with school. We were looking for a healthy snack—one free from refined sugars, industrial syrups, and gluten. We tried so many options. She didn’t really like any of them, and reading the labels revealed why: almost everything—even products that seemed “healthy”—hid refined sugars under other names.
It wasn’t just our problem; it is a problem faced by countless American families, and it remains one to this day.
That’s when we began looking back to our Italian roots, eventually discovering an ancient 17th-century recipe: *torrone* (nougat), made with almonds, honey, and egg whites. It was a little gem, though one that had unfortunately been “tamed” over time with sugar and glucose syrup. We decided to restore it to its original form, working with an artisan in Italy over the course of 16 months filled with trial and error, sleepless nights, and small breakthroughs. In the end, we found the perfect balance: using only raw, unfiltered honey as a sweetener and fresh almonds—toasted right before use and in double the quantity found in traditional *torrone*—all slow-cooked at a low temperature for hours. Raw honey has a glycemic index of around 50, compared to about 65 for refined sugar; this was a crucial detail for us, as we wanted a genuine treat, not a compromise.
That is how AmoreZero was born.
What makes this project a “family”
We aren’t a big corporation with a marketing department dreaming up catchy slogans. We are a small team producing in small batches, and every package we ship reflects the same care we put in on day one, when we were simply looking for something wholesome to give our daughter.
Over time, our family has grown. There are parents who, like us, want a snack their children will happily eat—without the guilt. There are athletes who appreciate the protein found in almonds. There are Italian-Americans who rediscover the taste of home in our *torrone*. And there are people who—whether by choice or necessity—watch their sugar intake and seek alternatives made with ingredients they can actually pronounce and understand.
Every review, every message, and every photo you send us holding your AmoreZero package becomes part of this story. You aren’t just customers; you are the reason we keep going.
An invitation, not a closing statement
Our family is still small, and we want to keep it authentic. That’s why we produce in limited batches rather than stocking up a warehouse; we wait for real orders from real people. If this story resonates with you—if you, too, are looking for a sweet treat without compromise—we’d love to welcome you. Read our full story at amorezero.com, sign up for our newsletter to find out when new batches arrive, and if you’ve already tried our *torrone*, please share your experience—you’re part of the AmoreZero family now, too.
